SwissCham Shanghai has the honor of inviting you to the conference on “Entrepreneurship in Times of the Financial & Economic Crisis”, presented by Dr. Edgar Oehler. The speech will be followed by a dinner.
Dr Edgar Oehler has been majority shareholder, Chairman and CEO of AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG since September 2003. Under his leadership, AFG has acquired no fewer than eight companies. Since 2004, AFG has increased its turnover from CHF 680 million to just over CHF 1.5 billion. For 24 years (between 1971 and 1995) Edgar Oehler was also a member of the Swiss National Council and of various parliamentary committees. Furthermore he acted for more than 10 years as Chairman of the Swiss Cigarette Industry Federation (CISC) and Editor-in-Chief of the “Die Ostschweiz”, a daily newspaper. In 1998, he acquired Hartchrom AG in Steinach, building it up into an international group of companies.
AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG has leading positions as an integrated construction industry supplier and in selected areas of technology. The Group has production facilities in Switzerland , Germany , the Czech Republic , the UK , France , the United States and Slovakia . AFG has an active presence in more than 70 countries worldwide via around 50 of its own production and distribution companies as well as representatives and partners. In 2008, AFG employed around 6150 people.
