1. Performing arts: Best of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival-a Celebration of UK Performance From 4 November to 7 December, this Festival brings together some of the UK's finest new productions in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. Over the course of five weeks, you will have a rare opportunity to sample a range of the unique styles and traditions that make up contemporary UK theatre. Please click here to read more.
2. Performing arts: China-UK Arts Management Dialogue Time:09:00 - 17:00, 18 Oct 2008 (Sat) Venue:Shanghai Conservatory of Music, 20 Fenyang Rd, Shanghai
The Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in partnership with the UK's Clore Leadership Programme is organising the China-UK Arts Management Dialogue with the support of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Four UK leaders from the arts and cultural sector will gather in Shanghai for the first time alongside Chinese counterparts to explore current issues affecting both Chinese and UK cultural organisations with a specific focus on arts education, participation, marketing and fundraising. In addition to professional development, the Dialogue provides a networking opportunity for local Chinese arts managers and aims to strengthen cultural exchange and cooperation between the UK and China. 3. Performing arts: The Taming Of The Shrew One of Shakespeare's most well known and popular comedies. TNT Theatre has been touring Shakespeare's major works to a worldwide audience for over six years, all directed by Paul Stebbings. Previous productions include MACBETH, HAMLET, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, ROMEO & JULIET and KING LEAR. Please click here to read more.

4. Music: AirplayUK Reel 4 Animation Music Video Screening The 4th edition of AirplayUK features another selection of the most creative and entertaining music videos produced in Britain over the past few months. These are for a combination of new artists, up-and-coming bands, and established acts that all have new material released in the UK recently. This edition also includes a director profile, in this case a music video director who has made a significant contribution to music video creativity in the UK over a considerable period. Rupert Jones has directed both acclaimed videos, and short films for more than a decade, and he tells us about his work. Please click here to read more.
5. Music: 2008 Shanghai eArts Festival (UK Night) Like Aphex Twin, Autechre are about as close to being techno superstars as the tenets of the genre and the limitations of its audience will allow. Through a series of full-length works and a smattering of EPs on Warp, Clear, and their own Skam label, the group have consistently garnered the praise of press and public alike. Music: Royal Philharmonic Orchestra 2008 Shanghai Concert Founded in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beecham, with his vision of bringing world-class performances of the greatest music written to the length of the country, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra continues to maintain Beecham's legacy by offering audiences in the UK and abroad the highest possible standards of music-making, accompanied by some of the most acclaimed artists of the day. 7. Music: Modern Sky Festival 2008 From 30 September to 2 October the Modern Sky Festival will take place at Haidian Park. The festival includes 68 different domestic rock stars and bands performing on 3 different stages within the park. Please click here to read more.
