Spotlight on RSA Events in October & November

Hon. Dr.. Henry Kissinger in China
Hon. Dr. Henry Kissinger visited Beijing and Shanghai at the end of October.. During his time in Shanghai he attended the "Shanghai International Financial Services Forum" which was organized by COFCO Property, and the opening ceremony of the 'COFCO-Fraser Suites Top Glory', the flagship Property of COFCO Group in Shanghai. Dr. Kissinger officially declared the property open with COFCO Chairman Ning Gao Ning, and President Yu Xu Bo. The opening attracted over 300 VIP guests from Shanghai Government, Senior Foreign Diplomats, and Business Leaders from both foreign and Chinese leading companies in Shanghai.



Hon. Maurice Strong meeting with the Hon. Al Gore in Beijing
Hon. Maurice Strong, Former Under-Secretary General to the United Nations had a meeting with Hon. Al Gore, Former Vice President of the United States during VP Gore's private visit to Beijing on 16th November. Both leaders had a very friendly and constructive discussion on Green and CSR issues which both were heavily involved with during their terms in the administration. Mr. Strong was a World Pioneer for promoting Environmental, Climate and CSR issues in the United Nations to the World. VP Gore became a friend of Hon. Strong when he was invited for the Earth Summit in 1992 which was organized by the UN and Chaired by Mr. Strong.



Shanghai Municipal Government welcomes COFCO leaders to Shanghai
Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zheng Sheng (Center) held a formal meeting and Welcome Luncheon with the Chairman of COFCO Group Mr Ning Gao Ning (left of Yu), President Mr Yu Xu Bo (right of Yu) and Senior COFCO leaders during their visit to Shanghai. Secretary Yu introduced Shanghai's current development and future planning. Secretary Yu and Chairman Ning agreed that COFCO as a leading state company in China, should develop more investment opportunities in Shanghai. Both leaders also expressed their strong confidence in Shanghai and China's economy and believe China's economy will overcome the impact of the Global Financial Crisis.



RSA hosted "Facing the World Financial Crisis - China Business Leaders Round Table" in Shanghai in October.
The current Financial Crisis has deeply affected the Asian economy and especially China's economy since July 2008. In order to provide a communication platform for business leaders in Shanghai. RSA specially invited Hon. Maurice Strong, Former Under-Secretary General to the United Nation and Senior Advisor to the President of World Bank, along with Mr Michael Kurtz, Chief Representative of Macquarie Securities China, Dr. Chen Hong, Chairman & Founder of Hina Group (PE), and Ms Christie Zou, CFO of Merck Serono China, to discuss the current situation in the financial market and the impact it may have on the fundamental economy in the rest of World. This event was attended by over 100 business leaders in Shanghai.



Rt Hon. Jenny Shipley visits RSA office in Shanghai
Former Prime Minister of New Zealand the Rt. Hon Jenny Shipley, visited RSA in September to meet with CEO Eric Yuan and join the prestigious list of world class leaders for speaking engagements in China. Ms Shipley retired from Politics in July 2002 to expand her own business interests. Today she is involved in many areas of commerce and public life and spends a considerable amount of time in Asia. Rt. Hon Jenny Shipley holds a number of Directorships which include chairing Mainzeal Construction and Development and director of Richina Pacific. She is on the board of China Construction Bank and advisor to Goldman Sachs.
