Hubei Province,renowned as the Province of a Thousand Lakes, is situated in the central part of China with the Yangtze River winding its way through the province.Hubei is so named because it is located north of the Dongting Lake.
The World Famous Yangtze Three Gorges Dam Project is located in Hubei Province,it is not only the largest water conservation project in China, but also the largest water conservation project in the world.

Hubei has been said to be one of the originating places of the Chinese people. Today many minority ethnic groups live in this area including: Miao, Tujia, Dong and some others.

Hubei has a subtropical monsoonal climate with a humid and hot summer, dry winter and strong sunlight in autumn,with average temperatures ranging from 15C-17C. The best times to travel there are spring and autumn.
